Education & Well-Being at Yes We Can Youth Clinics

Balancing Education and Treatment: What Truly Matters

Yes We Can Clinics has partnered with renowned educational advisors and excellent tutoring organisations to minimise any disruption in the school curriculum. Taking a considerable time out of school might feel counterproductive, particularly when faced with a crucial stage in one’s education and high tuition fees have been paid. However, do consider that many health conditions are progressive in nature and will deteriorate whilst untreated. Hoping anxiety or depression will disappear with cum laude grades is most likely wishful thinking or a complete denial of the problems at hand.

When School Pressure Masks Deeper Problems

Current performance, attendance, and emotional response to the school environment can guide whether incorporating studies into treatment will support their recovery or add unnecessary strain. You should ask yourself the following questions: what would you do if your child was diagnosed with cancer? Would you not immediately seek the best option, no matter how long treatment would take? Are you perhaps putting your child at even greater risk when prioritising education above your family’s well-being? And how well do they engage with their studies at present? Are they often absent or skipping classes? Perhaps even over-performing in a way that suggests pressure or stress?

Long-Term Success Begins With Mental Health

Our hope is for your child to enjoy a long life, and to do so in good health. But the chance of that happening will diminish exponentially when mental health conditions remain untreated. Young people have a lifetime to learn and school is a small part of their journey. An important part, but not a decisive one. We therefore urge you to be brave and let schooling not be the leading factor in your decision. For some young people, the school environment itself may be a major source of triggers, whether through social dynamics, academic expectations, or the general atmosphere. Strengthening confidence and self-esteem, and empowering young people to recognise and trust in their talents and potential is central to our work. Once your child has left his or her emotional baggage with us, you will see them outperform their contemporaries.

Why We Prioritise Recovery Over Traditional Study Curricula

Contemporary study curricula are not a focus in our programme, as our priority is helping young people get well. When someone has just bravely disclosed that they’ve been bullied for years, it’s hard to imagine them settling into a geography class an hour later. Instead, we spend time on psychoeducation, giving our fellows a toolkit and coping skills they can carry with them for life.

A Personalised Path Back to Education—Or Towards Meaningful Work

Together with our educational specialists, we’ll help find the most suitable pathway back into education for your child so they can thrive. And for those who no longer need schooling, our partners can also support them in finding meaningful work.
