On this page, we will adress some of the questions that teenagers and young adults and their parents and carers have asked us. Is your question not in the FAQ? Please feel free to contact us at any time via our contact form.
Yes We Can Youth Clinics is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience. Fellows follow an intensive and demanding 71-day programme (and ideally 4+ weeks of aftercare), focused on his or her problem. The team responsible for the treatment will do everything it takes to help them realise a permanent change in life. They learn everything they need to know about the nature and functioning of their behaviour and its impact in the short term and in the future. During treatment, the future is discussed extensively. How will you plan, spend and use your time? What are your goals in life? What to do when you face difficulties? Together with our fellows, Yes We Can Youth Clinics will search for answers to all these questions.
Besides the many group sessions and individual sessions, fellows will challenge their own capabilities by participating in intensive daily sports and outdoor activities. These activities focus on responsibility, respect, setting personal boundaries, discipline and team-building. Our teens and young adults practice their social skills and learn to develop new close friendships. In addition, they learn to recognise self-destructive patterns. Through various challenging activities, participating in group and intensive individual therapy sessions, fellows strengthen their sense of self-esteem and their self-destructive behaviour will gradually disappear.
The unique aspect of Yes We Can Youth Clinics is the combination of intensive therapy, sports and outdoor activities. Structure is provided constantly, in a personal, warm manner in which our fellows discover the nature of their behavioural problems. Group sessions are organised in the morning and individual sessions in the afternoon, supplemented by sports and outdoor activities. Regularly, experts by experience are invited to share their life stories. These stories, which can be intense and powerful, inspire our fellows to think, reflect and face the consequences of their behaviour. Fellows also are responsible for domestic chores, always supervised by one or more members of staff. Every evening ends with an end-of-day ceremony. This ritual is used to end and evaluate the day programme and to communicate the programme of the next day.
Daily multi-disciplinary meeting ensures that the youth coaches are also fully aware of our fellows’ development and progress. The sports and outdoor activities have a therapeutic significance, so progress also is reported to the entire team daily.

No, we do not encourage this. An important part of Yes We Can Youth Clinics is the group process. Whenever there are group members that know each other, subgroups soon develop. Not only could this be irritating or bothersome to the rest of the group, but it may also be harmful to these group members themselves. We offer a ‘once in a lifetime’ chance to start with a clean slate and develop new, healthy relationships during the programme.
During the 10-week programme, you can stay in touch with your child or partner. This will be explained to you during the intake interview. As a parent/carer, you will always receive an emergency number that can be reached at all times (24 hours a day).

In many cases, problems have been occurring for quite some time at work, at school or at a training/educational programme. Teachers and employers have noticed the problems and are generally very prepared to contribute to improving the situation. In many cases, they do not know how to help or activate these young people anymore. If necessary, Yes We Can Youth Clinics is prepared to provide school or the employer with a written statement of attendance.
